TEXAS APOSTILLE REQUIREMENTS

Important Texas Apostille Requirements

Texas apostilles are issued by the Texas Secretary of State for eligible Texas-issued public records and documents properly notarized by a Texas notary public. Preparation requirements vary depending on the document type and how the document was issued or notarized.

As part of the quotation process, Porchlight Group Apostille reviews each document against the applicable Texas apostille and authentication requirements to confirm the appropriate processing steps before your order begins.

Vital records: Texas birth, death, marriage, and divorce records must be appropriate certified records from the applicable Texas authority. Certified records submitted by mail must generally have been issued within the past five years to remain eligible for apostille processing.

Notarized documents: Texas-notarized documents must contain a complete notarial certificate, the notary's signature, seal, and date. Copies of certified public records should not simply be notarized as substitutes for the official record.

Academic documents: Texas diplomas, transcripts, school letters, and other academic records must be properly certified and notarized according to the state's school-record requirements before they can be apostilled.

Corporate documents: Original business documents filed with the Texas Secretary of State may follow the Corporation Apostille process, while privately held business records may require a company certification statement and Texas notarization.

Federal and out-of-state documents: Texas does not apostille federal documents such as FBI background checks or Certificates of Naturalization, and it does not apostille documents issued or notarized outside Texas. Those documents must follow the appropriate federal or state process.
