Terms & Conditions

Effective Date: January 1, 2020

By submitting payment or using any service provided by Porchlight Group Apostille & Global Documents, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. These terms may be updated or modified at any time without prior notice. It is your responsibility to review them periodically, and continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of any changes.

Appointments, Deposits, and Cancellations: All deposits are non-refundable. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, changes made within 24 hours of your scheduled time may incur a cancellation fee. Missed or no-show appointments may result in the forfeiture of your deposit. We reserve the right to charge a rescheduling or administrative fee for late changes.

Refund Policy: Notary, background checks, and translation services are final and non-refundable once completed. For apostille or authentication services, refunds may only be requested prior to the submission of your documents to the Secretary of State or Department of State. If you cancel after payment but before submission, a 10% administrative fee will apply. Shipping fees, courier costs, and any used shipping labels are non-refundable under all circumstances.

Document Liability and Loss: You agree to hold Porchlight Group Apostille & Global Documents harmless for any loss, delay, or damage to documents caused by third parties, including affiliates, mailing services, courier companies, or government agencies. We are only responsible for documents while they are in our direct physical possession. We strongly encourage clients to keep copies of all original documents sent for processing, as we do not assume liability once items are transferred to outside entities.

Apostille and Legalization Acceptance: It is your responsibility to verify the requirements of the requesting agency, foreign authority, or destination country before submitting your documents to us. We do not guarantee that a document, once apostilled or legalized, will be accepted by the intended foreign entity. Some countries have strict guidelines regarding the age or format of submitted documents. Our responsibility is fulfilled once the apostille or embassy legalization certificate is attached to your document, regardless of the outcome with the receiving party.

Translation Services: Our translators are experienced and professional, but they are not attorneys or agents of any foreign government. Their role is to accurately translate your documents into the requested language. Illegible or unclear documents cannot be translated, and translation fees are non-refundable. However, if any errors are found, we will provide corrections at no additional cost within five business days of notice.

Limitation of Liability: In no event shall Porchlight Group Apostille & Global Documents be held liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including delays, lost opportunities, or rejection of documents by third parties. Any liability we may have is strictly limited to the amount paid for the service in question.

Governing Law: These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in accordance with the applicable laws and courts of Connecticut.
